Soar into 2021
Today not only will the door close on 2020, but a door will open into 2021.
Similar to how I slipped into the lanai, warm with a “fire” (one of those fake heater ones) and soft music playing; leaving the news running in the Living Room behind me. The news was about differences in opinions and fighting. I could feel my shoulders tense as my ears heard the tone of the story. But as I stepped into the quieter space I felt the door close on my tension and my ears almost sighed in relief.
Soar into 2021.
It felt symbolic.
Stepping away from tension and stepping into peace.
At the end of 2020 many are happy to step away from this year fraught with divide, anger, fear and hurt.
The thing is if you think 2021 will magically evaporate those negative emotions you will be disappointed.
But you can choose your focus, just like I chose to step away from the news this morning to peacefully sit with quiet music, chimes singing in the soft wind and watch the morning unfold.
Seeped in gratitude is how I want to close 2020 and soar into 2021.....
No, let us soar into 2021.
Here are some contemplative questions for consideration.
1. What is an achievement you are most proud to have accomplished?
For me it was being present for my children and clients as they walked through difficult times.
2. What brought you the most joy this year?
Mine was the marriage of me and my sweetheart, Mike.
3. What are you the most grateful for happening?
I am grateful for being healthy (at the beginning of 2019 I was very sick). Health of my family. Moving to SC full-time.
4. Looking forward, what do you want to bring with you?
My daily meditation and yoga practice with reflection time.
5. Looking forward, what do you want to grow?
More healthful living that nurtures my body and self-care.
Soar with me into 2021.
Happy New Year.
