Starting Over

Tropical Storm Debby is sitting on top of my home. Bands of rain come and go. As I sip my morning coffee, looking out the window, the sky peeks blue in the middle of the gray.
Just like life.
Very often, life comes at you like bands of rain. And the wind may whip you around. But above the storm, there are blue skies. And even rainbows with dazzling colors.
I heard a quote yesterday from my wise husband, Mike, and it rings true along with the peeking blue skies.
“Life is a journey. You don’t have to return to the beginning to start over.”
When the storm hits hard, and you feel completely beaten down, sad, and lost, it can be hard...no impossible…to think of starting over. Your weary soul can’t fathom moving a foot forward. Starting over. It feels overwhelming, and you may feel that all you have journeyed through doesn’t matter.
Starting over doesn’t mean throwing away all that you have learned because the journey matters. Starting over means taking all of that knowledge and deciding what you want the next map to look like, plotting it, and moving one foot at a time forward.
You may feel alone, but you are not. Reach out to a friend, smile at a neighbor, or smile at yourself in the mirror.
You got this. And on those days, you don’t feel like you do. I got you.
Let’s do this journey!
